Education Programme Supporting Schools

The Education Programme aims to support schools by offering skills training for teachers to delivers existing and new community relations/citizenship/human rights resources in schools.

The Junction is committed to delivering a qualitative service that provides highly successful methodologies to teachers and staff, which allow them to deal confidently with a range of difficult and often highly contentious issues. The Junction acknowledges the vast range of excellent existing resources in schools but also recognizes the need to equip teachers to deliver these resources efficiently and effectively. Proper skills training can bring about a positive and healthy change among pupils and staff, better discipline in schools, and a healthy working and learning environment.

 


Dushan Vurdelja works with students at a local primary school as part of a programme designed to address a bullying problem in the class.

Utilising the experience and expertise of community relations work over many years, The Junction will work to develop a training programme that suits the school- accommodating short, medium, and more extensive programmes depending on the needs of the school.

Skills Training Programmes include:

  • How to facilitate a democratic classroom workshop.
  • Methodologies to explore and examine contentious issues.
  • Ways of diffusing conflict through mediation and negotiation.
  • How to deal with issues of racism, bullying, sectarianism, etc. in a contructive way with positive outcomes.
  • Mechanisms to deliver on core curriculum needs directly linked to the above areas.
